Christmas 2024: Gratitude

 Aloha Reader,

I've often spoken of the value & simplicity of pen and paper, in the context of a written gratitude practice. Last month, intrinsically I knew, that even though Christmas is simply 'another day', it would be difficult to experience it without my young son. This time around, though, unlike when the day passed without him in 2023, I had true, loving support in my life. So I leaned into that support. I stayed home until 5pm, until my BF nudged me to go on a date, and I was so happy I did.

Here were my top 5 gratitude items jotted down on December 25th, 2024:

  1. 2 cups of coffee from my housemate's new coffee machine (Kona blend & Donut Shop varieties)
  2. Someone to listen to my messages at 2am. (my BF)
  3. Recognizing my abundance of self-love, wit, character and strength.
  4. Not having to attend obligatory gatherings or endure guilt trips by needy family members.
  5. Enjoying a dinner & movie with my BF.

May you consider a written gratitude practice. They are wonderful to reflect and feel paper in your hands, especially on your more challenging mental health days.

With Aloha,

Heidi
