Secondary Blog: Behind the Scenes with Heidi
After many months of reflection this year, I realized how much 'interesting' behavior I've observed in my life. For many years, I dubbed myself an 'outgoing introvert' and if you've Googled my name, you'd see that yes, I've done many activities, showing my enthusiastic, altruistic giving self. However, the majority of my life, I've been very reserved and lent an emphatic ear to nearly everyone I've crossed paths with (which is a lot of people at this point in my life!). The listening and observations have certainly added up.
Like many beautiful souls, who are on a rugged 'forged from the fire' path as myself, I value my 'lone wolf' time. But, while my true self feels good engaged in solo activities, I highly appreciate social and family connections. As stated above, my conditioning in life and 'default' mode is listener (Often times to individuals who didn't deserve it! On a gratitude note: even though many folks did me wrong, I still learned from them - whether it be behavior I don't want to emulate or a new skill. Humanity is quite complex, isn't it!?).
Two years ago, one of my mentors mentioned to me the power of 'space' and silence to reveal answers. Interestingly, it's related to a similar concept I've studied for years from one my favorite British-American philosophers, Alan Watts. Over this past year, writing and physical space (i.e. "healthy boundaries") from toxic people has provided me an incredible amount of clarity and I know many good people will benefit from my writing.
Realizing the power of my observations over the years in terms of a community/humanitarian contribution, I designed a second blog "Behind the Scenes", in which I intend to publish many stories covering many industries. Guaranteed to make you laugh and relate, the entries will be excerpted by the numerous writings I've crafted this year.
Over four months ago, I met a friend, Nick Demarinis (a fellow kindred spirit), who encouraged me to keep writing and get to Hollywood. He also said if he opened his comedy club, I'd have to get on stage. Well, maybe, but for now, I'll stick to my writing and publishing! :-)
With Aloha,
Heidi
