Good Looks: A Blessing, but mostly a Curse.
Aloha Reader!
In some ways, I have lived naively most of my life. Although sensing and observing people's certain types of behavior around me periodically, I never realized the extent both women and men were jealous of me. I simply didn't focus my energy on comparisons. Sure, I'd notice a beautiful celebrity and think 'Oh, maybe when I'm their age, I'll get Botox." but rather than get obsessed with image, I learned to live my life without harsh self-judgement, focusing on improving my spiritual self. Even though I got my nails painted every 2-3 weeks and had a fairly-involved self-care routine, I wasn't super focused on outward appearances.
But we all know by now... that's not how the world works does it? Jealousy runs rampant and ironically, after I became self-aware of the women who were jealous of me, it made me laugh. Because I was putting in 10% of their effort and they were that jealous of me..
In the corporate world, looks sure do take priority, don't they? Personally, I've never used my looks to get ahead (you know.. sleeping with the boss for a promotion, like my peers), but I can appreciate how powerful that play is. And honestly, these days, we live in such a money and image obsessed world, that play could be considered a necessity to get ahead - I get it!
Before I met my BF last summer, I always considered myself a "Bay Area 9, but LA 6 or 7”, based on looks. But no, turns out I am a “dime”! Go figure, me a dime, hanging out with a bunch of Bay Area pennies & nickels...
Let me further clarify my personal definition of a dime: looks play a role, but the quality of your heart, soul and character are what truly drive up your value. To me, many dimes may have crooked features, carry extra weight and need dental work… The true measurement of a dime, to me, is measured by their energy vibration, focus on themselves and while service to others is also important, too often an overemphasize in this sector, can erode oneself. Nobody’s perfect, we are all WIPs ("work-in-progress") and it’d be cool if we could all authentically support each other.
On the subject of movies/Hollywood “dimes” & SoCal living, Margot Robbie is definitely my celebrity crush actress! She consistently plays all her roles, oh so well.. to me, she’s a Hollywood dime, no doubt about it. When I watch her movies, I do sometimes fantasize how fun it’d be to chill with her, drink lavender drop martinis and laugh about men. Gd, between the two of us… I bet you we’ve got quite some stories to share!
You may notice, by now, I share my 1-1 encounters/cool interactions on both of my blogs.. no major rhyme or reason for this. Typically, my other blog share is a deeper revealing of the characters that have been on my journey, but you'll still see stories embedded on this main blog. Here I am - simply a woman, with a mission and two blogs! :)
May you have a wonderful rest of your week!
With Aloha,
Heidi
