Mixed Tapes & CDs
Aloha Domingo!
One way to show someone you love them is to create them a playlist, which can be gifted in many ways. These days, you can go high-tech and digital or opt for how we did it in the 80s, 90s and early 00s... the "Old Skool" style of mixing tapes & CDs. While many modern cars aren't equipped with cassette players, many have CD players, so no excuses there! How do you burn CDs nowadays? Well, gosh, I'd have to look it up, but you get the idea!
In the 90s, before I made mixed tapes for my crushes, I made them for myself. Some of my earliest musical memories include listening to the radio and timing my tapes to capture songs. Eventually, I upgraded to burning CDs. Although, sometimes I used an 8-track player, I never attempted (nor know if it's possible!) to burn that type of music.
As a spiritually cleansing activity, in late 2023, I tossed a CD I burned for my ex (in the early '00s) out of my car window. I don't like to litter, but my goodness, in my anger processing, it sure did feel good to toss it from my Highlander sunroof, while cruising down the highway. I listened to it first, laughing at the club-inspired mix, then released it straight out of the sunroof - Aww, what a healing gesture that was to the universe!
How do you show your loved ones you dig them? Or… how have you used music to get revenge? Let's laugh and love together, friends.
With Good Vibes,
Heidi
