Vow of Silence: Up for Grabs
Aloha Reader,
Last summer, one of the ways I reclaimed my personal power and stood my ground despite multiple requests for justice or a simple meal from a neighbor was to refrain from conversation.
As simple and legal as it was/still is to mind my business and not engage in simple conversation, eventually keeping to myself prompted a visit from the Ventura County police department in August of 2024. They knocked on my car window as I was writing in my journal, playing jazz on low volume in my car and told me I needed to be friendlier to neighbors. "Huh?" I thought. Nicky D, one of my local friends, told me I should tell them to f'off. I already did that, though, in Redwood City in January of 2024, so rather than give them what they actually deserved to hear, I politely responded: "OK, I'm perfectly willing to move my car, but I'm out of gas money. If the neighbors want to pitch in, by all means, I’m happy to drive after I wake up, get myself and my dog ready after sleeping in my car all night." Hmm, no response from them! But there you go with the police! Especially, young, uneducated ones. So many of them out there, America! What shall we do? Please comment below.
By the way friends, be careful what you wish for! I do enjoy solo time! Check out my Strava account for proof... my favorite way to spend my birthday is running all darn day! I sincerely have no problem being quiet for the entire day, keeping to myself. Or a week. And gosh, what wonders it does for my soul, mind, body & spirit.
May you all have a lovely, karmic Sunday!
Cheers,
Heidi
